Part Two, continued from August 2010.

In August we finally took off the gloves and gowns at 9 PM. We'd been working for twelve hours! It's a good thing that we all really enjoyed it.

Because the specimen as so amazing and in such good shape I asked Bill, the director of VISTA Labs, if I could refreeze the head and come back next month, on my own to further dissect the face and mouth.

"Sure, what ever you want Julie!"

I took a colleague into the lab with me (it's always more fun with friends) and we saw the blood was still in the sutures!

A lot of the scalp was removed so we reflected off the cheeks and found a hole in the left maxilla with surgical material. Now we knew where the incision was to the pituitary surgery!

The rest of the afternoon was spent examining the mandible, temporomandibular joint, throat, hyoid bone and muscles.
